When you get hired for a summer in Canada, after you have secured a job and worked the entire season, you will be guaranteed housing and be totally set for the winter!
Great question! The start of the summer season is typically around April – May, however start dates range from April to June, as each employer in Canada will have different needs. The season will normally end in September, however many employers are seeking candidates who can stay long term. For that reason if you want to come for the summer to Canada and stay to work the Winter Season, you will get preference among employers! The longer you are planning to stay, the more employers will be interested in your profile, as you can grow with the company!
All jobs will be from $15 an hour or more guaranteed! All employers we work with pay competitive salaries, and offer fantastic perk and benefit packages. In addition, tips/gratuities can be made in many roles!
The minimum wage in Canada varies according to province. The minimum wage in Alberta is $15 CAD (€10.18)/hour and in British Columbia, it is $17.40 CAD (€11.81).
Many participants want to know what the exact benefits or perks will be, but each employer will offer different packages to their staff members. That being said, remember that employers want to attract the best employees and make sure they are happy working with them, so they can retain talent. For that reason, all packages will be competitive.
The summer season is a great option to get your ‘foot in the door’ with an employer, and then stay for the winter. You are only required to be in a position for 1 season, this means you could be promoted or transfer into a new role in the winter if you perform well.
And, yes, we have seen it before where participants want to come only for the summer and once settled, decide to stay longer in Canada. We are sorry, Canada is way too amazing for one short season! For this reason, when we help our working holiday makers to prepare their arrival, we always recommend to bring the maximum duration insurance, so you can maximize your work permit opportunity. We want our participants to be allowed to stay longer if they want to! No worries, we can fill you in on this part, but if you want to learn more, check our blog about insurance for IEC working holiday permits in Canada.
