You can start an international internship in Vancouver year-round, however we recommend you start planning at least three months in advance.

Yes, internships in Vancouver don’t have a specific start date, so you can do an internship all year round. The most important thing is to plan accordingly. You must remember that doing an internship in Vancouver requires going through an internship visa/permit process, so you must plan at least 3-4 months in advance so you can first secure your internship position in Vancouver, and then your internship visa. We’ll be with you for every step of the process!

Public transport in Vancouver is great! Translink, the name of the transport system in Vancouver, has a network of buses, metro (or SkyTrain), and even the SeaBus ferry, which are all reliable and inexpensive. Regular service runs from about 5 a.m. to around 1 a.m. every day, and the whole city and surrounding cities are connected, so you can be anywhere in Metro-Vancouver within an hour.
Not hard at all! You can choose between staying with a homestay family, in an Airbnb or a shared apartment. Our team will be supporting you on every single step to make sure that when you land in the city, you will have a place to stay. As our internships are from 2-6 months, we highly recommend participants have accommodation arranged for your entire stay, so that you can make the most out of your time in the city.
You can normally expect between 30-40 hours per week. Each host company will be different, so if you have any specific requirements regarding hours, please let us know during your consultation and we will do our best to match your requirements.
YES! Let us know if you are planning on using your internship towards your University credits and we will inform your host company of the requirements. Please remember to mention it since the very beginning of the process!
So many things! Vancouver is such a diverse city, from a stunning bike ride on the Stanley Park Seawall to hiking in North Vancouver; a beach day in Kitsilano to a trip to Whistler…you can even visit the USA for a weekend. Did you know that Seattle is only 2.5 hours from Vancouver? And yes, borders are now open so you can travel to the USA for the weekend and be back to Vancouver for your internship on Monday!
Even when we have seen this happening in the past, we want to confirm that it is not just a simple “I want to stay working in Canada.” You will be traveling with an internship visa or internship work permit for a specific period of time. If you decide that you want to remain in Canada you will need to apply for a work permit, and for this process, the most important thing is that you support yourself with an immigration professional, as this program is not aimed for you to stay in Canada after your internship.
